Celebrate the upcoming Christmas holiday season by getting in the mood with a tour to the Niagara Falls region. This tour features holiday lights, early frontier history, culinary displays and good food. Visit NIAGARA FALLS CULINARY SCHOOL for a GUIDED TOUR and their annual GINGERBREAD WONDERLAND event. It features a life size Gingerbread Santa House, culinary demonstrations, entertainment, decorations, toy train show & vendors, Gingerbread Houses, video and much more. A fun stop to get you into the holiday mood! Enjoy an EARLY PLATED DINNER in the “Cataract Room” of the NIAGARA CONFERENCE CENTER. Visit OUR LADY OF FATIMA SHRINE for the FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS event started in 1991. There are 75 displays to be viewed. The Basilica itself is gorgeously illuminated on the outside and inside lit by candlelight to reveal a Nativity Scene behind the main altar. The gift and book shop will be open for you to make that special holiday season gift purchase. Experience a chance to welcome the holiday season at OLD FORT NIAGARA in the spirit of the 1700’s during their annual “CASTLE BY CANDLELIGHT” event. The visit includes hands on activities and interactive history demonstrations including celebratory musket and canon firings. The fort and pathways will be illuminated by candlelight and the French Castle will be festively decorated for the holidays by the Youngstown Garden Club using natural evergreens, boughs, ribbons, flowers and ornaments. Visitors will get to meet uniformed soldiers, Native Americans, fur traders, artisans and camp followers plus much more to put you into an 18th century holiday atmosphere and feeling NOTE: There is walking required. Safe and comfortable walking shoes required. Dress for the weather.
